A Surprise They'll Remember Forever

What's the most exciting surprise you've ever pulled off? Picture a gift that turns someone's day around, bringing tears of joy when they least expect it.

Guess what? This Diwali, I pulled off the ultimate surprise for my parents. Can you guess what it was?

It's me! Hi there, I'm the surprise—yes, it's me!

Nothing beats celebrating a festival with your family. Now, let me share the story:

I secretly booked my flight tickets a month ago, slyly using my credit card so nobody would catch on to my plan. Super pumped and bursting with excitement, I kept it hush-hush, only spilling the beans to my buddies.

A big shoutout to my fantastic friend and hostel roommate, Suyash! He practically dragged me into going home for Diwali and meeting my folks. I resisted, thinking, "What good could come out of it?" But oh boy, am I glad I listened! Thanks to him, I'm now having the time of my life with my family. Mom's happy, Dad's happy, and having my sister around is the icing on the cake.

Like any newbie in Delhi, I was a bit freaked out by all the scary stories I'd heard. Despite my morning flight, I showed up at the airport a whopping 12 hours early. Guess what? They wouldn't let me in! I didn't even get to have dinner in the lounge—bummer!

On top of that, my Uber ride from college to IGI airport cost me a whopping 1100 bucks for just 50 km. Ridiculous, right? And to add insult to injury, I didn't even have a fellow passenger to share the ride.

So there I was, strolling into the airport at 2 am, grabbing a long-missed doughnut from Krispy Kreme, treating myself to a veg burger and Fanta, and patiently waiting for my flight. Talk about making the best of a situation!

Finally, I landed in Vizag at 9 am, snagged an Uber home, and you won't believe what happened next! If you're curious, check out my previous blog—it's a poetic adventure.

Today, we decked out the house, lit it up, bought sweets, cooked up some delicious treats, and laughed till our stomachs hurt. One of the best days this quarter!

Sending love to all,

Happy Diwali 2023

XoXo
