As a young adult from a defense background, I have spent the past 14 years studying at the same school i.e Navy Children School in Vizag. Being born late and with my dad retiring after 28 years in the Navy in 2013, I didn't get to travel as much as my sisters or change schools, so I feel a bit stuck in Vizag.
However, today marks a new chapter in my life as I start college tomorrow at Bennett University in Greater Noida, which is in the complete opposite end of my world, from south to north. It's a nice change, but stepping out into the world alone is both terrifying and worth it, as I expect.
I landed in Delhi this morning, and it was very overwhelming to digest so much in a single day. The place is completely different from where I used to live, although NSB has high-rise towers, they are not of this scale, i.e., 40-90 floors. The place has its own history and stories for generations to come. I don't know what college will be like, and the next four years of my life are a mystery.
I have always been a mama's boy and never left her hand. Leaving her alone and being myself alone is such a difficult task. I don't know how she will react when she reaches back home in Vizag and finds the house empty with no noise or my laughter to be heard, just complete silence. Mom, I know it's going to be painful, but we'll manage.
The one good and hopeful thing about college is that my friend Ayush Yadav will be there, whom I have known since 7th standard. We never shared a deep friendship/bond, but we have talked quite a few times. A familiar face brings happiness and comfort in a place elsewhere.
From tomorrow, I will document every day of college for the next four years. It's a journey towards achieving dreams, goals, a bend happiness. There's a lot more to say, but stay tuned until tomorrow.
