This topic has been bothering me for a while: the return of ISIS and other terror groups.
You may have heard in the news that ISIS has been regaining strength and launching attacks in different parts of the world, especially in Africa and Asia. They have also been recruiting new members online and spreading their hateful ideology. This terrifies me. What if they manage to carry out another large-scale attack like 9/11 or Paris? What if they target our country or our city? How can we stop them from spreading violence and fear?
I know I am not alone in feeling this way. Many people around the world are worried about the threat of terrorism and the instability it causes. We have seen the horrors of war and the suffering of innocent people. We have also seen the bravery and sacrifice of those who fight against terrorism, such as our government soldiers who risk their lives on the border to protect us and our freedom. They are the real heroes and we owe them so much gratitude and respect for their work.
Sometimes I feel guilty for taking my life for granted. I have a comfortable home, a loving family and many opportunities to enjoy myself. I don't have to worry about bombs or bullets or kidnappings or torture. I don't have to live in fear or hatred or despair. I am so lucky and blessed to have all this, but I also know that it could be taken away from me at any moment by a senseless act of terror.
One thing that does bother me is,
The lack of education and knowledge that is given in the school on sensitive topics like terrorism and ISIS is a serious problem that needs to be addressed urgently. Many students are unaware of the causes, consequences and prevention of violent extremism, and how to resist the propaganda and recruitment efforts of these extremist groups. They are also exposed to distorted and sensationalized information from the mainstream media, which can create fear, confusion and prejudice.
Schools should adopt a holistic and integrated approach that covers multiple dimensions of terrorism and ISIS, such as their history, ideology, goals, tactics, impacts and responses. Schools should also address the root causes and drivers of violent extremism, such as poverty, inequality, injustice, discrimination and human rights violations.
That's why I think we should all appreciate what we have and not waste our time on trivial things. We should also remember our responsibility as citizens of the world to stand up against terrorism and support those who are fighting it. We should not let them divide us or make us hate each other. We should not let them win by giving up our values or our freedoms. We should not let them destroy our humanity or our hope.
We should always remember that we are stronger together than apart. We are more powerful than fear. We are more resilient than hate. We are more beautiful than violence. We are more than they can ever be.
PS: Let there a be a beautiful world to live.
